In this course, we will consider the centuries-long contribution women writers have had on Yiddish literature, in reading a selection of their prose (memoirs, short stories, plays and novels) as well as poetry, all written by female writers such as Glikl of Hamelin (1646-1724), Hinde Bergner, Chava Rosenfarb, Kadye Molodovsky, Rokhl Korn, Yente Mash, and Blume Lempl, among others. All texts will be provided by the instructor in pdf format.
